THE APPELLATION

The Côtes de Gascogne appellation covers the fantastically-exposed hillsides between the Pyrenees and the Atlantic. With warm days and cool nights, the appellation boasts a unique climate, ideal for developing the aromatic expression of the grapes. The climatic influence of the ocean to the west conjugated with the mountains to the south guarantees sunshine without drought.

WINEMAKING AND AGEING

The different grape varieties are harvested at optimal maturity during the night in order to preserve their aromas and are then vinified separately. Free-run wine is drained off with the help of gentle pressing in a pneumatic press with no air contact; the press must is systematically removed. Slight settling. Alcoholic fermentation takes place at temperatures maintained between 17°C and 18°C which encourages an elegant aromatic expression. No malolactic fermentation.

TASTING NOTES

A particularly pale colour with bright pink tints. Supple and modern, the fresh red berry fruit aromas (redcurrant, blackcurrant) and citrus notes are highly seductive. A fresh and full finish makes this a very easy-drinking wine.

FOOD PAIRING

Serve at 8-10°C.

Enjoy as an aperitif, with starters, fish or shellfish or, quite simply, throughout the meal. It is also a great choice with Italian or Asian dishes.

WINEMAKER : Cedric Garzuel.

Director of the Condom Wine Cooperative, Cédric flies the flag for Côtesde Gascogne citing them as: «modern, fruity, original wines».
